Shameless star Emmy Rossum turns classy as she channels 20s chic in new sombre music video

You may know her as Fiona from the trashy Gallagher family on America’s Shameless.
But prior to her acting career Emmy Rossum devoted her time to singing.
And as her screen career blossoms with the new series of her TV programme currently airing and a new movie out next month, the 26-year-old is squeezing in time to get back to her roots.

The Phantom of the Opera star has released a music video for Nobody Knows (When You’re Down and Out) to coincide with her new album coming out on January 29.

 

In the black and white short to accompany the track from her LP Sentimental Journey, she appears in a 20s style setting and clothing.
Her dark locks are styled in waves underneath a veiled hat and in the sombre vignette she pairs her striking look with dark lipstick.

The slender star dons a printed dress as she slinks around her apartment singing, staring at herself in the mirror and even kissing her reflection at one point.
After retiring to the floor of her dressing room she packs a suitcase with cash and some belongings before setting off into the streets. 
Her sad melody continues as she waits at the bus stop for the clip which only lasts just over two minutes.

Emmy admitted her first record in almost seven years was a result of some called-in favours and funds from her own pocket.
She told Entertainment Tonight Online: ‘I made this album with my own money and partnered with Warners to release it. I called in a bunch of favours and my friends and I made it in three days at The Village Recording Studio [in New Orleans, where she was filming Beautiful Creatures].’
Early in the process, she decided the album would contain only cover songs and that it would stick to a unique concept.
