'This album feels to me like one of those that from start to finish could be a good road-trip record and that’s what we wanted,' Lady A's Charles Kelley said of the forthcoming Golden in a statement.
'It’s one of the reasons why the term "golden" was kind of cool. I think about road trips and driving down the road with those little streaks of sunshine popping through the trees, especially at sunset. ‘Golden’…it just gives you this warm, easy feeling.'

'Pathetic' Olive Garden reviewer Marilyn Hagerty proves her cynics wrong as she prepares to launch History of American Dining book one year after her famous column

Marilyn Hagerty became an online sensation after she published an earnest review of the chain restaurant Olive Garden in the Grand Forks Herald last year, which was immediately picked up by amused bloggers across the country.
The 86-year-old columnist was swiftly catapulted to food critic stardom, and now one year on, she has returned to the Italian restaurant for a follow-up review, and the launch of her new book.
Grand Forks: A History of American Dining in 100 Reviews, will feature an assortment of Mrs Hagerty’s Eatbeat columns from her 30 years at the Herald - including reviews of 'truck stops, fast food places and all kinds of restaurants,' and even one hospital cafeteria.
From pathetic to praise: Marilyn Hagerty, 86, was swiftly catapulted to food critic stardom with her Olive Garden review, attracting a mixture of jaded disbelief and unlikely praise; one year later, she is launching a new book
From pathetic to praise: Marilyn Hagerty, 86, was catapulted to food critic stardom with her Olive Garden review; now one year later, she is launching a new book
Published with the help of one of her first cynics, cookbook author and television host Anthony Bourdain, Mrs Hagerty's book is due out on August 27.
'She's been writing a food column in Grand Forks for 30 years,' Mr Bourdain said to Eater.com last year.
'What we have is a sincere, genuine reportage of food that people don't really see or talk about. ... I see her life's work as a history of American dining.'

Her initial Eatbeat review of The Olive Garden in Grand Forks on March 7, 2012, came under the the headline 'Long-awaited Olive Garden receives warm welcome.'
Mrs Hagerty praised the $10.95 chicken Alfredo ('warm and comforting on a cold day') as well as 'the two long, warm breadsticks,' the nicely dressed waiters and the restaurant's 'welcoming entryway.'
It received millions of hits online, resulted in an appearance on the Today Show and a spot as a guest judge on Top Chef, much to the dismay of snarky food critics who laughed at her 'unsophisticated prose'.

Endearing: Mrs Hagerty praised the $10.95 chicken Alfredo ('warm and comforting on a cold day') as well as 'the two long, warm breadsticks'
But her poise under the initial criticism endeared her to the masses, and she quickly gained praise for her clear, concise and 'readable' reviewing style.
'I went viral, and I didn’t even know what that meant,' Mrs Hagerty writes in her newest Eatbeat review.
'First, there was the online critic who said the review was pathetic. Others followed, wondering why anyone would critique an Olive Garden restaurant. They couldn’t know that I write about truck stops, fast food places and all kinds of restaurants.
'Then, there was a barrage of commentary from kind and gentle people. At one point, 1,300,000 hits were reported. There were TV trucks from the “Today Show” and “Piers Morgan” in my driveway, and national television shows such as Anderson Cooper, Jay Leno and “Top Chef” on the line.
'And Anthony Bourdain was doing an about face and praising my work. To top it all off, I received the Al Neuharth Award for excellence in journalism for 2012 that had gone before to the likes of Garrison Keillor and Walter Cronkite.'
One-year anniversary: For her follow-up review of the chain, she writes, 'The food is predictable, down to the four or five black olives you find in the salad bowl'
One-year anniversary: For her follow-up review of the chain, she writes, 'The food is predictable, down to the four or five black olives you find in the salad bowl'
While most of today's food writing is littered with overwrought analogies, Mrs Hagerty’s unpretentious style makes sure to include useful observations for any diner, no matter the Michelin star rating, or lack thereof.
For her one-year anniversary follow-up review of the chain, she writes: 'The food is predictable, down to the four or five black olives you find in the salad bowl. The vegetable soup is hearty and satisfying. Children are well-treated with color crayons and choices including a little cup of grapes as one of the side dishes.'
Mrs Hagerty's son James, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, and his mother's biggest fan, attempted to explain his mother's sense of work ethic.
'When she was successfully treated for breast cancer two years ago, she used the occasion to write a review of the hospital's food. It was right up there with the cuisine at Olive Garden,' he wrote in his own column last year.
'My mom has her own style of reviewing restaurants: She doesn't like to say anything bad about the food. Her regular readers read between the lines. If she writes more about the décor than the food, you might want to eat somewhere else.'
As Mr Bourdain told his Twitter followers: 'Very much enjoying watching Internet sensation Marilyn Hagerty triumph over the snarkologists (myself included)'

Brains and beauty: Pamela Anderson becomes latest star to take to the stage at the Cambridge Union

It has welcomed world leaders and eminent academics to debate some of life’s greatest questions.
But last night (TUES) former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson took to the stage of the prestigious Cambridge Union.
The 45-year-old wore a beige pin stripe suit, which would have perhaps been in keeping with the occasion.

But rather than trousers she opted to wear shorts. Miss Anderson also wore a tight-fitting jacket and T-shirt with brown stilettos.
Despite wearing the revealing outfit, Miss Anderson, who was speaking on animal rights said she had become interested in animal welfare as a way of detracting attention away from her looks.
Miss Anderson, who once posed topless for an animal rights advert with the slogan ‘I’d rather go naked than wear fur’, said: ‘I was working in Baywatch and I was getting a lot of attention and silly questions about my boobs and boyfriends so I decided to do something and I called Peta (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).’
The Canadian-born actress, who has been a vegetarian since she was teenager, said that as a child she stopped her father from hunting deer.
She said: ‘My father was a hunter. He told us not to go in there (to his shed), but I got all my friends and we went.
‘There hanging upside down and bleeding was a deer. I grew up on venison. I put it all together and thought it was crazy.
‘I got my father and all his friends to stop hunting.’

Miss Anderson thanked the Union for its invitation for her to speak. She said: ‘I cannot believe it has taken me so long to come to Cambridge.’
The Cambridge Union has become known for welcoming some of the world’s most powerful and influential figures from around the world since it was founded in 1815.
Miss Anderson, who starred in a sex tape and has posed for Playboy magazine, follows in the footsteps of Winston Churchill, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Ronald Reagan who have all spoken at the Cambridge University institution.
But the student run society has been accused of dumbing down after inviting a number of less traditional speakers.
Last month nightclub owner Peter Stringfellow took part in a debate alongside a former male pornography star.
And tomorrow (THURS) evening Katie Price will return to the Union to debate whether ‘celebrity is the new opiate of the masses’.
The glamour model last year trounced former The Lady editor Rachel Johnson to win a debate on female ambition.

Ben Kentish, president of the Cambridge Union, defended the line-up of celebrity speakers.
He said: ‘I think Katie Price could not be more relevant to talk about the issue of celebrity status as she is one of the country’s best-known celebrities and is hugely well placed to discuss the effects of this.
‘Pamela Anderson is one of the best known actresses and models on the planet and that speaks for itself.
‘I am delighted that we are able to welcome so many high-profile and interesting speakers to the Cambridge Union.’
Last night most of those attending the event were surprisingly not male. But when one male student was asked why he was sitting in the balcony, he said: ‘So I can get a better view. That's the whole point isn't it.’

Earlier this year Miss Anderson competed in celebrity ice skating show Dancing On Ice, but was voted out during the first week after suffering a wardrobe malfunction.
On Monday, the Cambridge Union announced a boycott of a prestigious debating competition after two female students were reduced to tears by sexist heckles from Scottish students.
Students at Glasgow University are claimed to have called out ‘Shame woman’ and made derogatory comments about the appearance and chest sizes of Rebecca Meredith and Marlena Valles as they took part in the finals of the annual Glasgow Ancients debating competition.
When one judge attempted to stop the heckling she claims she was called a ‘frigid b***h’.

The Rise And Development Of Oil Painting Of Women

In the past history of art, outstanding artists mostly occupied by men, almost no mention of women in the arts, why there is no more great women artists, became the focus of discussion. Started in the middle of twentieth Century, frequent social movement and the feminist consciousness rise, make western women to step on the female undertakes locating afresh, and called for the female artistic value to comment further, a female culture craze.

In China, a side surface by the Western feminist art ideological trend influence, on the other hand by the influence of Chinese traditional culture, Chinese female painters also became active in the world of art on the big stage. Along with the progress of science and technology of China and the art of rapid development, female artist has been paid more attention, in the arts field, the rapid rise of oil paintings of women, female painter has gradually formed its own unique artistic form of expression, it is also to the works of art were the re-positioning, female painters began to pay attention to itself, At the same time also will be the creation of oil painting shifts focus to itself, in the early part of the process of exploration, Chinese female artist's works appeared in female consciousness has unique features of oil painting works, and this has a woman's special drawing way of expression, also obtained the affirmation of people, whether in domestic or abroad, have caused, positive influence.
Below we take Mona Lisa for example, and talk about the painting. What comes to your mind when you think of Mona Lisa- a masterpiece, beauty, elegance or others? A factor that contributes greatly to its mystic charm is that it is an oil painting. This form of painting is perhaps the most complex of them all. It involves a huge amount of toil and discipline to paint a story using oil paints.

Mona Lisa was created by the Italy Renaissance artist, scientist D a Finch. It took him four years to finish, and really a valueable oil painting.  At that time Mona Lisas youngest son has just died, she was in deep sorrow, feel depressed, Da Finch in order to let the hostess happy, in his painting also invited musicians and comedians, tried to cheer up the Mona Lisa. Look closely at the picture, the brunette casually draped over his shoulders, eyes is so kind, lips look slightly pale, but a closer look you will doubt her lips whether true to life. Look at his mouth pouty lips, let a person feel very easygoing, be courteous and accessible. We move to the background behind her, give you the first feeling is dim, partly hidden and partly visible, but a look you find behind her was a winding path, the calm lake, and several small hills, made Mona Lisa more lovingly pathetic.

Valerie Harper reveals vomiting episode that led to terminal cancer diagnosis and how she has bought a discount cremation

Less than six months before she was diagnosed with brain cancer, Valerie Harper, 73, ignored signs something was terribly wrong.
Then, when she became violently ill while driving with no warning, even doctors could not figure it out.
It was only when the Mary Tyler Moore star suffered from what she thought was a stroke, did doctors deliver the tragic news on January 15 - that she had terminal brain cancer and only three months to live.

The television icon - best known for her role as brash New Yorker Rhoda Morgenstern - calls this her 'transformative moment' and admits it 'hit me like a sledgehammer'.
'In August I felt this funny little band moving from my back to my waist,' she told People magazine. She ignored it.

Then in December she was driving in Santa Monica when she became suddenly violently ill.
'My windshield was obliterated with vomit and I hadn't felt sick. Later I found out that is a benchmark for a seizure.'
But even after visiting several doctors who conducted a host of different tests, the results were inconclusive.
Then on January 11, the 73-year-old was rehearsing for her Off Broadway show Looped when the right side of her jaw suddenly became numb. Her husband of 26 years Tony Cacciotti took her to the hospital thinking she was having a stroke.
Doctors ran more tests and four days later they delivered the news - they had detected cancer cells in her spinal fluid, ultimately leading to the terminal diagnosis.
'I held it in but I broke down later,' she admitted to People.
