The different medium that they use in their painting greatly affects the visual projection of their artworks.

Oil Painting gives the viewer a serious artistic feel. It brings a viewer into different dimensions or art expression. It could get across a romantic message, a classic and serene appeal. Oil painting is considered very versatile because it can be done thinly so as to create a water color effect or can come out with very thick and buttery texture.
The classic beauty delivered by oil paintings was carefully crafted because oil paints are not very easy to handle. The artist must be knowledgeable on the quality of oil to be used, their texture as well as the proportion or amount in which a certain color of oil is placed on to or below another.
Mishandling these oils could cause them to crack, smear and affect the other colors that have already dried up.
Things to Note When Doing Oil Painting
In handling oil paints for oil painting for the first time, painters must lay all the colors in the palette for easy access in case the next color is needed. Oil paints have tendencies to dry quickly therefore, the long time that will be spent to get the next color might affect the consistency of the previous one placed.
Ivory Black paint must be avoided because they don't dry up easily. A good option would be a color that can be blended with burnt amber. This paint has the quality of accelerating the drying process.
Cracking is the most common problem that occurs in oil painting. To avoid this, add more oil to your medium for each subsequent layer as you go along with the painting. Remember that the oils underneath dry faster and will tend to absorb the oil from the newly placed ones.
There is a variety of oils that oil painters can choose to use. However, beginners must stick to linseed oils. This is because linseed oil dries thoroughly in the under paintings. As you get used to using oil as your medium in painting you can proceed in using more complicated kinds of oil. You can try Poppy oils on the upper layer of your paintings.
