Feeling comfortable already: Katy Perry dresses down in beanie and geeky glasses for dinner date with John Mayer

Many women wait a while before they stop making an effort with their appearance for dates with their new boyfriends.
But Katy Perry is clearly feeling comfortable with boyfriend John Mayer after five months of on/off dating.
Spotted dining in Beverly Hills on Thursday night, Katy, 28, looked far from her usual kitsch, colourful self in a drab ensemble of khaki jacket, black beanie and thick-rimmed glasses.

With boyfriend John, 35, going for a multi-layered denim look, Katy looked like she feeling the cold in her ensemble as they left Matsuhisa Japanese restaurant.
It looked like they may not have finished their meal as John was seen carrying a paper doggie bag as they headed to the valet to collect their car.
Their date night came after they spent Christmas together - a sure sign their romance is quickly getting serious.

On Saturday, Katy and John paid a visit to a hospital in her hometown of Santa Barbara.
And after spending Christmas Day together with Katy's family, the Kissed A Girl star posted a photo of her man dressed as Santa Claus on her Twitter page the following day.
She captioned it: 'Santa baby.'

The couple were first linked in July following Katy's brief romance with Florence And The Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd earlier in the summer.
They were reported to have split in late August, but were spotted on a dinner date together just days later.
The couple made their romance official in November when they posed on the red carpet of A Christmas Story on Broadway.

Famous Oil Painting with Wonderful Designs

Everyone likes different art work because everyone is an individual. Famous oil painting makes wonderful gifts for lovers of fine art. There are many talented oil painters who have their own individual subjects and styles. Well known art always costs a lot of money even when it is reproduction. People expect to pay a lot for fine art because it is a high standard and looks exquisite.

Many famous oil painting artists have been trained and cultivated in schools and colleges. Artists train for many years to be proficient at their craft. Real artists take true pride in their work and strive for perfection. Artists are never truly happy until they have created a masterpiece. They go from one project to another drawing inspiration from the world around them.

A beautiful painting often takes pride of place in a person's home. It can make a room stand out and be the center of attraction. Guests and relatives in the home will gaze at the painting and talk about its beauty. A person that owns a beautiful piece of art is proud to show it off to friends and family. It is a talking point that people will mention each time they visit your home.
When artists get a design they use pencil to outline it on white canvas. The first layer of an oil painting is usually created using pencils. During this stage, the oil painting is still rough and there is only a few big color blocks. A few days later it dries and the second layer is then begun. The whole stage of developing the art work is a process.

Once the third layer is done the reproduction usually comes into being. A painting is created by a highly trained and skilled famous oil painting artist. Art is a fantastic aspect of life that is available in many varieties. Although there are many wonderful art forms in the world, oil painting is considered one of the newest forms of art.

EXCLUSIVE: Matthew Macfadyen shares all the GORY details from his new TV series Ripper Street

Matthew Macfadyen has been tempted back to a major TV series for the first time since the long-running Spooks ended two years ago, in which he played a very modern role as counter-terrorism chief.
Now he has re-emerged as Detective Inspector Edmund Reid, a late 19th-century policeman whose beat is London’s East End, haunt of the notorious Jack The Ripper.
The time is April 1889, six months after the Ripper has claimed his last victim, hacking a fifth young woman to death -  and people are beginning to venture out after dark again, in the cautious hope that his murderous reign of terror is over.

But is it? After all, the series is called Ripper Street.
The famously buttoned-up Macfadyen reacts with mock horror: ‘I couldn’t possibly give anything away’, he says.  ‘But I will say that Inspector Reid is a very modern policeman, and what he investigates takes him beyond the Ripper’s crimes.
'He is beginning to see huge new advances in forensics and pathology as for the first time police work becomes truly scientific, and he can see that this is the future’.

I watched the opening scene as Macfadyen as Reid – tall, imposing, well-dressed in  a long heavy coat and a black bowler hat, and sporting distinctively fashionable sideburns - sips his beer in Whitechapel’s packed Brown Bear tavern.
He smiles as his fellow drinkers cheer on a brutal bare-knuckle fight. It’s all good fun - or what passed for fun in the late 19th century - but Reid’s off-duty moments are numbered.
Suddenly, a scream echoes through the fog-shrouded warren of streets. The naked body of a young prostitute has been found with her throat cut. The murder has all the Ripper’s hallmarks, and panic once again grips the East End.

There really was a senior police officer called Edmund Reid - a 5ft 6ins Druid, who was one of the first people to parachute from a hot air balloon in the police team hunting the Ripper, but Matthew says he hasn’t based his character on him.
Matthew, a strapping six-footer, has played his fair share of action roles, but nothing as dare-devil as that: ‘There have been so many films, TV dramas and documentaries about the Ripper, who was never caught, of course, but I haven’t seen any of them.’

He hadn’t even read much about him – or, as some theories have it, her -  but he says although he would normally carefully research a subject before taking on a part, he decided to stick with the character as created by series writer Richard Warlow.
‘Inspector Reid, as we see him, has nothing of the jaded or hard bitten copper about him. I wanted to get away from the classic police chief, the seen it all, done it all sort of officer, and he’s definitely not that.
'He has a very strong moral compass. A priority of the time, I suppose. He’s not typically Victorian,  he’s not sermonising and then doing naughty things behind closed door,' he said.

‘I also found him interesting because he was very curious. He’s not afraid to try new things, unconventional ways of policing. This was even before finger-printing and they were clutching at straws in a lot of ways in trying to solve a crime.’
‘He’s quite progressive and interested in technology and, the innovations of the age, which were enormous especially in Victorian times.'
‘So there’s a lot to play with – it’s good fun.  And the writing makes it for me. Richard Warlow has a wonderful way with language, so Ripper Street is big, bombastic, colourful and grimy,' the actor raved.
Macfadyen was in Spooks between 2002-4, but returned for the finale two years ago, and It was while working on the drama that he met and married his co-star Keeley Hawes.

He remembers thinking ‘Phwoar, I fancy you’, when he first set eyes on her. She had only been married to cartoon designer Spencer McCallum for two months, but she fell for Macfadyen very quickly.
‘After just a few weeks he suddenly came out with it in the rain’, she once recalled. ‘He said, “I love you”. I thought, “Oh dear, here we go again.”'
They now have two children, Maggie and Ralph, as well as Keeley and McCallum’s son Myles.
Ripper Street is due to be shown in America and, dubbed in several languages, all over the world, with a second series commissioned even before the first episode has been publicly screened.
Whitechapel itself, with its dingy shops, factories, pubs, an orphanage, asylum, even a toymaker’s shop and of course, the police station were all recreated by designer Mark Gerhaty in a disused Victorian barracks in Dublin, where the scenes of everyday hustle and bustle were filmed.

Oil Painting Reproductions to Decorate Your Estate

Oil paintings have been prized since ages for their gloss and sheen. These paintings are so called because the pigments present in the paint used for the painting are bound together by particular oil which has the ability to dry up quite fast, and bind the pigments together strongly. Usually, linseed oil is used in these paintings, the trend of which began in early Europe. Oil paint started to be made in India, in the 15th century and in Afghanistan, by painters of Chinese origin. They were not incredibly popular in Europe until the advent of the Renaissance. Until then, tempera paintings were the norm.

The oil paints are usually boiled with a specific resin or a varnish. Pine resin and frankincense are commonly used. Apart from linseed oil, the other oils that are used in oil paintings are safflower oil, and oil from the seeds of poppy plants as well as walnut oil. The purpose behind using oils in the paintings was that the oil provides a yellowing, or a variably drying effect on the final work. Depending upon the kind of oil used, the sheen or the gloss of a painting can be altered. At times, different kinds of oils are used on the same painting to provide the desired effects according to the requirements of the subject of the painting, and of course, the painter's preference.

Oil paintings are usually made on canvases made out of cotton cloth stretched between wooden frames. This frame can be a strainer, or a stretcher. A stretcher is quite adjustable, while a strainer is rigid and can't be adjusted at the corners. The subject matter is first sketched onto the canvas by the painter. This is done using either charcoal, or a kind of thinning paint. The paint is applied to the painting using paintbrushes or cloth rags, as required. Mineral spirits are at times used in the oil paint-varnish mixture. Cold wax too is used sometimes. The rule of thumb when it comes to oil paintings is that you should apply a thicker coat of paint on every previous coat you have applied. If you do the opposite, and thin the coats as you keep applying, the final painting may peel or crack.

Larry Hagman wins over critics in his final Dallas episodes as the late star's California estate goes on the market for $6.4M

He sadly passed away on November 23 from complications of throat cancer.

But Larry Hagman's legacy is alive and well, with critics already hailing his final Dallas episodes just as his family put his estate in Ojai, California up for sale.

The authentic Texan was in the middle of filming episode five of 15 in season two of the Dallas reboot when he died at the age of 81.

However, according to a New York Post critic, there was no sign that Hagman was ailing as his performances were just as explosive and mean as ever in his signature role of ruthless oil baron J.R. Ewing.
The final episodes, slated to premiere January 28 on TNT, Larry's scheming character is in the midst of buying out everyone else in Ewing Energy.

The show's producers are evidently still scrambling to come up with a way to write his character's death and funeral into the popular soap.

Larry's co-stars Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy also gave touching eulogies at the service.

Other attendees included Dallas actors Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Brenda Strong, Julie Gonzalo and Sheree Wilson, and actor Lee Majors.

Larry's long-term manager and close friend Gene Yusem confirmed there are plans to commemorate the actor by scattering his ashes at the Dallas mansion.

The 1978 CBS series, only originally envisaged as a five-part drama, became a hit and counted millions of fans across the U.S. and in the 95 foreign countries where it was aired.

The original Dallas ran from 1979-1991, dominating ratings, inspiring a prime-time soap craze, and gave rise to "Who Shot J.R.?" mania.

Oil Painting Art for Home and Office

Art is an expression of the human experience, and for some reason or other, what we see and do must be recorded in the form of art, and what a better form than a painting. The inspiration for the oil painting reproductions varies from one artist to the other, but for the collector, the effect can be therapeutic or exiting or even the result of a new burst of inspiration. This makes the selection of oil painting for the home or office an exercise that requires careful thought and corresponding action.

Examine the place. Locate the places within the home or office that require paintings. Selecting an oil painting is subject to a number of factors which is why an analysis of the particular space as well as the purpose of that space is required. For instance, many people consider that their bedroom to be their most private space which also serves the purposes of rest and relaxation.

Any piece of artwork in this room should therefore contribute to the creation of a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere, such as beautiful scenery, reminders of a happy past or even an abstract artwork. The individual's taste determines the final decision, even though care should be taken to ensure that the oil painting art accomplishes the purpose intended.

Color Matters. A contrast should be seen between the color of the wall and the colors in the painting. Plain white walls work very well with nearly all other colors, but stronger colors and wall papers may require some effort to avoid a clash of colors. It is important not to use a different shade of one color. While the assumption is that similar colors will match each other, the actual result is that certain details in the picture will appear blurred, defeating the purpose of the wall decor.

Let the painting match the current interior. Paintings are usually part of the interior decor's final touch being added to a space that has already been furnished. The oil painting should be the same style as the other artwork pieces in the space where it is being introduced, so as to blend in beautifully and compliment the other decor.
